Aside from being a mom, I’m also an educator. Both roles have shaped my passion to help adolescents learn well and move forward intentionally. If you’ve come to this page to know more about the work that my colleagues and I do with adolescents and young adults, email us at Ask@miosmommy.com.
Oh, and I also blog...

Single mom. Boy mom. Girl mom. Stepmom. Mom who has lost a son.
I've been all of these. And sometimes all that "Mom-ness" spills into my classroom, affecting the way I view my students and respond to their needs. In my blog entires for parents I write about things I've learned as a mother in a classroom… AND insights from when "Ms Ange" comes home, too.

As a college lecturer for more than 10 years, I’ve seen how distraction, procrastination, and a lack of structure erode the potential of students who are otherwise capable. At the same time, I’ve worked with graduate students to design more meaningful learning experiences. I share a bit of what I've learned along the way with teachers who love to teach just as much as I do.

I also share tips for students who want to build more effective habits, overcome procrastination, and stay organized so that they can enjoy learning again (and maybe even enjoy going to class). If I were to be vulnerably honest, part of what I share here comes from my own bouts with demotivation and procrastination even as an adult... So yeah, been there, done that.

Mio is this adorable boy right here.
He was born on July 18, 2000. When he was 2, we found out that he had a brain tumor, and he passed away the year he would've turned 6. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. He and my other children, Lorenzo and Amanda, inspire me to keep growing as a mom and educator.
